Barlow
Story
In 1992, convinced that individuals with mental health difficulties were being let down by the quality of services available at the time Janet Barlow opened her first small home in Barnsley with just three residents; with a belief that she could offer care and support in new innovative ways, Janet Barlow, a qualified nurse and with 29 years experience in care Janet was joined by her son Andy Barlow (RMN) in 2006.
The proud family run organisaton has since continued to develop and expand to provide bespoke, specialist community recovery and residential support services across Barnsley.
Despite this growth and transformation, the dignity and respect Janet first provided is still firmly at the heart of everything we do.
Using our family model approach, focusing on the individual not the diagnosis, every client is encouraged to pursue their maximum independence in a safe and nurturing environment.
Together, from strong family roots and solid foundations, we have not just built a community but a family. Through lived experience, comprehensive staff development and a culture formed from the inside out. We nurture an environment in which our team can connect, relate and genuinely make a difference.
